Suvarnabhumi Airport to add 16 more automated passport gates

Suvarnabhumi International Airport will be installing 16 additional automated passport control gates, bringing the total planned installations to 122. This expansion is part of the airport's ongoing efforts to enhance technology and passenger facilities since marking its 20th anniversary of operation. Currently, 106 Automated Border Control (ABC) gates have been installed for international arrivals and departures.

The new gates will be able to process electronic passports from over 90 countries, while the existing arrival gates support passports from 34 countries. Special lanes will be provided for passengers who require extra assistance. The airport has not announced a specific timeline for the installation of the remaining gates. This upgrade follows recent improvements in automated immigration access for foreign arrivals.

The expansion also includes enhancements to passenger areas throughout the main terminal, concourses, and Satellite Terminal 1, such as more electronic charging points, children's areas, relaxation zones, co-working spaces, and Digital Park Seats. Additionally, seven information counters are being renovated, with five already reopened.

The airport is also renovating 124 toilet areas across the passenger terminal and concourses, with 69 completed and the entire program expected to be finished by 2028. This comes as passenger and flight numbers continue to rise, with Suvarnabhumi handling 59,626,075 passengers and 346,905 flight movements in the period from October 2025 through August 2025, marking a 2.43% and 1.83% increase year-on-year, respectively.

The airport serves 118 scheduled airlines, with air cargo exceeding 1.4 million tonnes, up 4.63%, and dedicated cargo flights increasing by 6.34% to 15,855.
