Single mother seeks help after fallen trees damage century-old family home

KUALA KRAI: A single mother and her daughter were left shaken after a storm on Thursday caused two trees to fall on their nearly 100-year-old family home. Rozilawani Mohamad Nor, 58, and her daughter Izwani Che Wan Johari, 30, were startled by the sound of the trees crashing down during heavy rain, lightning, and strong winds. The trees, a bachang and a durian tree, damaged the living room and bedroom of the century-old home.

Villagers and firefighters assisted in cutting and removing the fallen branches. Rozilawani, now sleeping cautiously due to fear of future incidents during heavy rain or strong winds, expressed concerns about the deteriorating structure of the house, which has been rotting and shows signs of structural damage. She lacks the financial means to repair the damaged roof and structure, and her health issues, including gout, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol, have limited her ability to earn an income.

Rozilawani, who previously earned a living by tapping rubber trees, stopped doing so about four years ago due to health problems. She hopes for assistance from individuals or organizations to help repair the damaged sections of the house and ensure her family's safety.
