On Day 1 of Sibos 2026, which took place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, artificial intelligence (AI) emerged as the most notable presence. The conference, hosted by Swift, the payment giant, featured massive exhibition halls filled with futuristic booths, lounges, and amenities designed to attract attendees. Notable features included a vintage Fiat transformed into a gelato stand, a mobile home trailer serving coffee and doughnuts, and a Puppy Lounge where several dogs received attention from bankers.

Among the many interviews and panel discussions, a notable interaction involved an artificial-intelligence-powered robotic head called Ami. Despite being able to engage with conference attendees, Ami was not allowed to converse with the reporter due to an ongoing presentation at her booth.

Throughout the event, AI was showcased as being utilized to address various challenges in the banking industry. Generative AI was highlighted for its potential to assist banks in tasks such as forecasting cash, answering service questions, checking trade documents, and detecting suspicious transactions.
