Seahawks sign college teammate of Jake Bobo to practice squad

On September 29, 2026, the Seattle Seahawks added defensive tackle Gary Smith III to their practice squad following their Week 3 loss to the Washington Commanders. Smith, who was undrafted, previously played college football at Duke University alongside Jake Bobo from 2020 to 2021. Both Smith and Bobo then transferred to UCLA for the 2022 season, where they could have been roommates with Zach Charbonnet.

Despite being signed by the Las Vegas Raiders, Smith did not make their roster and was subsequently waived at the end of training camp. To accommodate Smith on the practice squad, the Seahawks released nose tackle Uso Seumalo.
