Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra may scrap the 10MP telephoto lens — and there's no word of a replacement

The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra, set to release next year, may undergo significant changes to its camera system, according to long-time leaker Ice Universe. The leaks suggest the phone will no longer feature the 3x optical zoom secondary telephoto camera, which is Samsung's trademark lens. This change would see the camera system jump directly from the 1x main camera to the 5x telephoto camera, eliminating an optical magnification step between the two.

The main camera will still offer 2x optical quality digital zoom, a feature popular on flagship phones. The software behind the camera is also expected to change, with Samsung reportedly tweaking the color tone to be warmer and improving highlight control for small, bright objects. Additionally, the phone is expected to better reduce noise in dark areas, resulting in a cleaner image across light and shadow.
