Rebel Moon 3 seems unlikely to happen, following pessimistic remarks from director Zack Snyder about the sequel's prospects. The 2023 and 2024 Rebel Moon movies received harsh criticism from critics. Even releasing extended R-rated versions, which Snyder believed were closer to his intended vision, did not have a significant impact.

During an interview promoting his new film, The Last Photograph, Snyder admitted that he was unsure if a third Rebel Moon movie could materialize. He mentioned that the director's cuts of the existing movies might gain more popularity and spark interest in a potential continuation. However, Snyder ultimately indicated that a third Rebel Moon film is not in the works and may never be made.

The director recently shifted his focus to an LAPD SWAT movie, taking a break from the Rebel Moon universe to avoid burnout. Co-writer Kurt Johnstad echoed Snyder's doubts, stating that outlines for movies 3, 4, 5, and 6 have been created, but financial backing and production decisions lie beyond their control. While Snyder has meticulously plotted the entirety of the Rebel Moon world, he expressed hope that the story could be concluded with an act of God.
