RAF Fairford incident involves 'foreign actor', says Rubio

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed on Monday night that a foreign actor was implicated in a foiled bomb plot targeting the UK’s RAF Fairford airbase, according to an interview with Fox News. While he did not specify which nation the foreign actor belonged to, Rubio emphasized that the incident was indeed a serious matter. He further commented on Iran's open threat to attack American interests globally, warning that there would be consequences if such an attack were to occur or even be attempted.

Regarding the release of five suspects arrested in connection with the plot, Rubio expressed surprise that the UK had granted them bail. He criticized the decision, stating that the US would not have released the suspects under similar circumstances. President Donald Trump echoed Rubio's concern, telling reporters that he was surprised by the UK's decision to release the suspects.

When asked directly if the incident was linked to Iran, Trump hinted at the possibility but declined to provide further details, stating that he would not release the information.

Rubio assured that more information would emerge in the coming days, but he cautioned that he could only offer limited insights at the moment, emphasizing the gravity of the situation and the appropriate response it warranted.
