R.I.P. Dennis Haskins, Saved By The Bell's Principal Belding

Dennis Haskins, the iconic principal from the beloved 1990s sitcom Saved By The Bell, has passed away at the age of 75. His longtime agent, Jay Schachter, confirmed the sad news to multiple outlets on Monday, expressing deep sorrow over the loss. Schachter praised Haskins for his love for his fans, noting that he always made time for them, regardless of the circumstances.

Haskins had been residing in an assisted living facility since being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease eight years ago, a condition he had not publicly disclosed before his death. Born on November 18, 1950, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Haskins pursued higher education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he was involved in student activities such as writing for the school paper, participating in the drama club, and founding the community theater group, the Harlequins.

While he is most remembered for his role as Principal Belding on Saved By The Bell, Haskins reprised the character in four TV movies and several series that followed the original show. His talents extended beyond Saved By The Bell, as he appeared in various television shows including It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Mad Men, How I Met Your Mother, and New Girl.

Mario Lopez, one of the show's stars, expressed his grief on Instagram, highlighting Haskins' friendly nature and his love for karaoke. Haskins was married to Sarah Dianne Goins, though they later divorced. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Haskins is survived by his younger brother.
