QC briefed on investment opportunities in Port City Colombo, Sri Lanka

In Doha, Qatar, the First Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber, Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, met with a delegation from the Port City Colombo Economic Commission of Sri Lanka. The delegation was led by Harsha Amarasekera, Chairman of the Commission, and included other notable figures such as Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Obaidli, a QC Board Member, and H E Roshan Sithara Khan Azard, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Qatar.

The primary focus of the meeting was to explore potential avenues to bolster cooperation between the private sectors of Qatar and Sri Lanka, strengthen trade relations, and boost bilateral trade. Discussions also centered on identifying high-value investment opportunities for Qatari investors, with the Sri Lankan delegation providing an overview of various projects, including their associated investment incentives, tax exemptions, regulatory frameworks, and recent developments.

Mohamed bin Twar expressed Qatar Chamber's eagerness to foster communication between the Qatari and Sri Lankan business communities. He highlighted Port City Colombo as a promising destination, boasting a diverse array of investment opportunities that could serve as a strategic gateway for Qatari investors looking to expand into the Sri Lankan market.

The Chamber further encouraged Qatari investors to consider establishing joint ventures with Sri Lankan counterparts in sectors of mutual interest, such as financial services, information technology, professional services, shipping and logistics, tourism, hospitality, and regional headquarters.
