Punjab to Introduce AI Education for Special Children

The Punjab government has announced plans to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) education for special children. Special Education Secretary Shoaib Iqbal revealed that the aim is to equip these students with education suitable for the modern era. Iqbal emphasized that teachers within the special education system will undergo AI-specific training to assist in this endeavor.

He stated that modern technology will be employed to make learning simpler and more effective for special children. Additionally, new teaching methodologies will be implemented based on each child's unique educational requirements. Sports and other extracurricular activities will also be integrated into the learning process to support the children's overall academic and mental growth.

This initiative is part of broader AI education reforms being implemented across Punjab's school system. The provincial administration intends to introduce AI as a subject from primary to high school levels and establish laboratories to support the new curriculum. Other measures include reducing the volume of textbooks by 25%, incorporating QR codes that link to video lessons, and providing enhanced teacher training to facilitate the transition towards concept-based learning.
