Punjab Makes Major Change to Driving License Issuance Process

Punjab has recently introduced a significant change to its driving license issuance process. Starting now, drivers can obtain a second license from any district within the province, rather than being required to return to the district where their first license was issued. This new policy was approved by DIG Traffic, the Punjab Inspector General of Police.

Previously, drivers had to obtain their subsequent license from the same district that originally issued their first license. However, the new regulation allows citizens to apply for and receive their second license from any city in Punjab after successfully completing the required driving test. Officials believe that the online system now enables authorities to more easily verify license data across districts, making this change feasible.

The Traffic Police reported a notable 43% increase in driving license issuance across Punjab during the current year, indicating the positive impact of this updated process. The provision of a more convenient system for obtaining a second license is expected to greatly benefit citizens and streamline the overall driving license administration in the province.
