PPP 'welcomes' opposition's invite to multiparty moot, says will forward it to Bilawal to consider

The opposition alliance Tehreek-i-Tahafuz-Ayin-i-Pakistan (TTAP) extended an invitation to Pakistan People's Party (PPP) to participate in a forthcoming multiparty conference. The PPP expressed willingness to accept the invitation, stating they would relay the proposal to their chairperson, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, for consideration.

This arrangement was confirmed by both parties, who shared similar statements on the matter. The opposition had initially planned to hold the multiparty moot on September 11, with PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan leading the initiative. Ali Khan proposed discussing pressing issues such as law and order, the economy, inflation, lawlessness, and the creation of new provinces.

The PPP's involvement in the moot was welcomed by the opposition, as they emphasized the importance of engagement with various political parties on constitutional issues. The PPP, ruling in Sindh, firmly opposes the division of provinces and advocates for decisions to be taken through constitutional and parliamentary processes. The TTAP is also planning to invite other political parties to the moot, including Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, Awami National Party, and Jamaat-i-Islami, but has excluded the ruling PML-N and its ally, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, from the invitation list.

A six-member committee has been formed to consult with political parties and finalize the agenda for the proposed multiparty conference.
