Pete Edochie hopes to visit Rawlings’ grave to pay respects during Ghana visit

Veteran Nigerian actor Pete Edochie has announced his intention to pay respects at the grave of Ghana's former President Jerry John Rawlings during his current visit to the West African nation. Describing Rawlings as a brother, Edochie expressed deep sorrow upon learning of the late president's demise, noting their cordial relationship.

In an interview posted on Facebook, Edochie revealed that during his previous visit to Ghana, he met Rawlings, engaging in extensive conversations. The former president had previously pledged to visit Edochie in Nigeria, though this plan was never realized before his passing. Edochie highlighted their uncanny physical resemblance, often mistaken for brothers by the public.

Both were born in the same year, a coincidence that further solidified their perceived kinship. When informed of Rawlings' death, Edochie first doubted the news, suspecting it was the president's mother who had passed away. Upon confirming the actor's suspicions, Edochie felt he had lost a brother. He expressed his desire to visit the late president's grave, to pay his respects.

Additionally, Edochie plans to visit Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Armah, who has been unwell for an extended period, and actress Moesha Boduong, who portrayed his wife in a Ghanaian film. Edochie characterized Ghana as a second home, underscoring his deep connections and professional collaborations in the country.
