Peoria Rivermen get a high-powered veteran winger, while another announces retirement

The Peoria Rivermen have bolstered their roster with a high-powered veteran winger named Mike Gelatt, while another player has announced his retirement from professional hockey. Gelatt, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound right wing, is set to return for his fifth season with the Rivermen. The experienced player is known for his leadership and ability to create challenges for opponents in the attacking zone.

Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel praised Gelatt's understanding of their culture and commitment to winning games. Gelatt, who spent part of last season on a call-up with Utah, has contributed 38 goals and 43 assists over four seasons with the Rivermen. In addition to Gelatt's arrival, the Rivermen have signed rookie forward Everett Pietila, a 5-foot-10, 185-pounder from Howell, Mich.

Meanwhile, Jordan Ernst, a popular Rivermen star who played 214 regular-season games and 17 goals in six seasons, has announced his retirement from professional hockey. The Rivermen released two other players from their camp roster, including left wing Bohdan Zinchenko and forward Joowon "Timothy" Kim.
