Paramount+ Picks Up US Rights for 3 British Series From A24

Paramount+ has secured U.S. streaming rights for three British series produced by A24. The pact allows the streaming platform to broadcast the new shows in the U.S. and certain other regions. The series comprise a comedy titled "It Gets Worse," a coming-of-age drama called "Major Players" and a television adaptation of "The Ministry of Time."

"It Gets Worse" premieres on Paramount+ early next month. The show is created and directed by Leo Reich and stars Emily Fairn, Olive Gray, Sean Delaney, Dane Williams, India Mullen, and John Tothill. It follows the lives of three individuals grappling with low-paying jobs, lack of romantic relationships, and waning enthusiasm for life.

The series features guest appearances from Andrew Scott, Lena Dunham, and Amelia Dimoldenberg. "Major Players," co-written by Molly Manning Walker and Yasmin Joseph, draws inspiration from Walker's personal experiences at high school. It centers on two young women nearing adulthood aiming to establish a women's soccer team. "The Ministry of Time," based on Kaliane Bradley's bestselling book, is adapted by Alice Birch.

The series chronicles the journey of Sophy, who secures a coveted promotion in the civil service only to discover that her task involves assisting a time traveler adjust to contemporary society as part of a covert Ministry initiative. Paramount+ head of originals Jane Wiseman expressed delight at adding these three A24 series to the platform's lineup of original content.

She noted that A24 has consistently delivered thought-provoking, captivating series and films over the past decade. The acquisition of these British series, Wiseman stated, will enhance Paramount+'s reputation as a premier destination for innovative and compelling storytelling.
