Panthers QB Bryce Young earns appropriate grade for Week 3 loss to Browns

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young's performance in the team's 21-18 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday did not meet expectations. It was clear from the start that Young would face a challenging task given the man-heavy Cleveland defense, which has proven difficult for him throughout the season. Young's stats reflected his struggles, as he threw for 291 yards, but only managed one touchdown and one interception.

Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report gave Young a C+ grade for his efforts, noting that the Browns sacked him three times and hit him eight times. The Browns also pressured Young on 30 of his 47 passing attempts. In addition, Young and his teammates faced difficulties in crucial situations, going 4 for 18 on third and fourth downs.

While Young's top three receivers were unavailable, with Xavier Legette ruled out, Tetairoa McMillan shut down by Cleveland cornerback Denzel Ward and Jalen Coker leaving the game early with a quad injury, it was ultimately a lack of support from the offensive line that was the biggest issue. Poor pass protection has been a recurring problem for the Panthers this season, and their struggles in this area were evident once again, with Young under constant pressure during Sunday's game.

While Young will have to improve moving forward, the constant pressure he faced makes it difficult to expect much more from him in this situation.
