Pakistan Airlines Fail to Meet On-Time Departure Standard in 2026

In 2026, Pakistan's airlines failed to meet the legal standard for on-time departures, according to a two-year performance report. Only 67.5 percent of flights departed on time, down from 68.4 percent the previous year. In 2024, 85.6 percent of flights operated by the country's five airlines departed on schedule, well above the legal requirement of 80 percent.

Two out of four airlines met the standard for flight cancellation rules in 2024. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has initiated action against airlines that failed to meet the benchmark, issuing show-cause notices and fines for violations. Penalties of up to Rs1 million are imposed for flight delays or cancellations, with fine amounts now being deducted from airline deposit accounts.
