Oscars International Feature Category Nears 90 Films: Complete List of Entries (So Far)

As the deadline for submissions to the Oscars' Best International Feature Film category approaches on September 30, 88 films have already been announced as entries by their respective countries. This brings the total number of submissions close to the 90-film mark, a first in four years. The category saw 86 entries last year, but countries like China, South Africa, and the United Kingdom are notably absent this time.

Countries with approved selection committees have until the deadline to choose a film to represent their country. The Academy will then vet these films to ensure they meet language, creative input, and theatrical-release requirements. The category currently lacks a clear frontrunner, with films like Czech Republic's "Fjord," Spain's "La Bola Negra," Poland's "Fatherland," South Korea's "Possible Love," Japan's "All of a Sudden," Belgium's "Coward," Austria's "Rose," and France's "Minotaur" all showing promising chances. Most of these films premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
