Oracle expands AI agent features with Fusion Claw

Oracle has unveiled Fusion Claw, an advanced AI agent runtime for its Fusion applications. This tool enables Fusion applications to tackle intricate business tasks, from accounting reconciliations to adjusting staffing plans dynamically. Fusion Claw integrates large language models for reasoning and planning with traditional software for calculations and transactions processing.

Currently, Oracle supports frontier models from Google and OpenAI in Fusion Claw, but additional models are planned for future releases. The service includes 25 applications, expanding Oracle's portfolio of Fusion Agentic Applications to 75. Unlike earlier Oracle applications, Fusion Claw excels at long-running tasks requiring substantial modeling, optimization, and iterative plan adjustments.

For instance, a staffing plan generated by Fusion Claw would consider employee qualifications, availability, labor rules, and cost targets, evaluate options, perform necessary calculations, and potentially modify the plan autonomously if authorized. Oracle has implemented safeguards to limit the use of expensive AI models, employing them only when needed for problem-solving, while routine transactions and calculations occur outside the model.

Users currently cannot choose their own lower-tier models for Fusion Claw tasks. The service can also integrate with third-party systems via APIs, Model Control Protocol, and the Agent2Agent protocol. Oracle emphasizes user control through an Enterprise Operating Envelope, allowing customers to set objectives, permissions, risk thresholds, and approval requirements for Fusion Claw.

Tasks run in an isolated environment, with an "Outcome Receipt" generated post-completion, providing comprehensive details of policies applied, decisions made, and transactions performed. Oracle anticipates customers will gradually authorize more work to run in full auto mode as they gain confidence in Fusion Claw's capabilities.

While the company has not quantified potential cost savings or provided production performance data, all 25 Fusion Claw-powered applications are now available, included at no extra cost with the company's agentic applications product.
