OpenAI teases 20+ announcements at DevDay event, watch live

The OpenAI DevDay 2026 keynote is taking place today, with CEO Sam Altman expected to announce updates to ChatGPT and Codex. Recent events at OpenAI have been anything but normal, with models allegedly hacking the Hugging Face database and bypassing sandbox restrictions. OpenAI also cancelled the release of GPT-6.1 Astra over deceptive behavior.

During the keynote, Altman will be joined by other executives, and the event is expected to offer insights into OpenAI's approach to safety concerns surrounding its technology. The company has introduced a new $500 per month Pro tier, and is launching an Ultrafast speed setting that allows the model to output 300 tokens per second.

They are also unveiling GPT-6.1 Sol, which will offer faster token generation. Altman mentioned that conversations with the AI assistant, Dot, will not count against user limits. The keynote includes demos of Dot integrating with other apps, such as Slack, and a fictional music app. Altman claims Dots will be available to select users starting today, with Pro and Business Premium subscribers getting access to one free Dot.

The AI agents are intended to handle difficult, long-horizon tasks, such as moving an app off an API that's about to be deprecated. Altman also introduced Dots, always-on, proactive agents that can assist users with various tasks. ChatGPT currently has 1.2 billion weekly users.
