Omnissa debuts AI agents for IT, a managed cloud PC service and Elara for AI governance

Digital workspace provider Omnissa LLC introduced artificial intelligence agents for IT teams and virtual desktop users, a managed cloud PC service, and an AI governance product called Omnissa Elara. The announcements were made at the company's Omnissa ONE 2026 conference in Orlando, addressing the growing challenge of employees using AI tools faster than IT departments can approve them.

AI assistant usage across enterprise endpoints increased nearly 1,000% in 2025, with most of it from unauthorized tools. Omnissa's Chief Product Officer, Bharath Rangarajan, emphasized that AI is accelerating the gap between insight and action, requiring companies to monitor and control AI usage. The new agents include a Digital Employee Experience tool that traces IT issues to their root cause, an app packaging agent that tests applications before review, and another that prioritizes and patches vulnerabilities in Omnissa's Vulnerability Defense product.

Omnissa is also allowing administrators to integrate third-party agents through a hosted server built on the Model Context Protocol. For virtual desktops, Horizon Delegate operates within an employee's virtual machine, executing tasks under their approved identity and permissions, even after the user logs off. Omnissa Cloud PC, a desktop-as-a-service offering, combines Omnissa's endpoint management and digital employee experience tools with the underlying compute.

The new AI governance product, Elara, serves as the "authority layer" for AI governance, consolidating data from various systems to enable IT and security leaders to see AI app usage and apply policies before high-impact actions occur. Omnissa did not provide release dates for the products, but plans to launch Cloud PC on Amazon Web Services, with other cloud providers following.
