Officials inspect Jamboo Savari route amid crowd-safety concerns

Officials conducted a thorough inspection of the Jamboo Savari route on Tuesday, as preparations for the Mysuru Dasara festival commenced. The procession, which traverses nearly five kilometers from the Mysuru Palace to Bannimantap, is anticipated to draw a massive crowd. Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, along with MCC Commissioner M.K.

Savita and other senior officials, toured Sayyaji Rao Road, a crucial segment of the route known for its large gathering of spectators. The primary concern during the inspection was the safety of people and the preservation of historical structures along the path, particularly the 100-year-old Devaraja Market, which borders the route.

Authorities are actively exploring strategies to deter spectators from climbing trees and buildings to catch a better view of the procession, as these actions pose risks to both the heritage sites and potential accidents during the crowded event. The challenge lies in effectively managing the crowd, especially during rehearsals involving the Dasara elephants, which attract an overwhelming number of onlookers.

With the actual event expected to see a significantly larger turnout, the police and civic authorities are working tirelessly to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
