Odo Broni marks Daddy Lumba’s posthumous birthday with donation at Korle Bu

To mark the 62nd birthday of the late Daddy Lumba, Odo Broni, his wife, joined her sister Faustina Fosu, friends, and family in providing assistance at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. Their act of kindness involved paying medical bills for new mothers who couldn't afford them and offering support to patients suffering from leukemia. This gesture transformed Daddy Lumba's birthday, a day for mourning, into one focused on giving.

Odo Broni's inspiration for this act came from her mother-in-law, Comfort Ama Saah Gyamfi, who battled leukemia and eventually passed away. In a poignant tribute, she revealed that her late husband often wept when speaking about her, which led to her decision to donate money to mothers whose children were battling cancer. She explained, "My mother-in-law had leukemia and died, and anytime my late husband spoke about her, he wept. That’s why I have come to donate money to mothers whose children are battling cancer."

Each of the mothers supported by Odo Broni received GH¢3,000 in aid. The generosity extended beyond cancer patients, as Odo Broni also used the occasion to celebrate the life and legacy of Daddy Lumba. She recalled the profound impact his music had on Ghanaians, stating that his voice, songs, and memories remain deeply connected to his fans.

Despite his physical absence, she emphasized that Daddy Lumba's music continues to bring joy, comfort, and cherished memories to millions. Daddy Lumba, a prominent figure in Ghanaian highlife music, passed away on July 26, 2025, at the age of 60.
