NY Giants release WR Odell Beckham Jr., per reports

The New York Giants have announced the release of wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., according to reports from Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport. The 33-year-old Beckham, who signed with the Giants twice this summer, including alongside Braxton Berrios and JuJu Smith-Schuster, showed promise during the preseason but struggled to make an impact in regular-season games.

Despite receiving enthusiastic ovations from fans, Beckham did not consistently receive playing time and was frequently used as a decoy or downfield blocker. The team's decision to release Beckham leaves them with a roster consisting of Malik Nabers, Darnell Mooney, and rookie Malachi Fields. As Beckham's primary returner Berrios has reached his practice squad limit, the Giants must now decide whether to sign him to the main roster or keep him on the practice squad for the remainder of the season.

Beckham will not be joining the Giants' practice squad but will be seeking playing opportunities elsewhere after proving he can still succeed at the NFL level.
