‘Not one rupee traced to me’: Health services ex-chief seeks bail in Rs 700-crore fraud

Dr Vatsala Aggarwal, the former Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) chief, is seeking bail in a Rs 700-crore medical supplies fraud case, stating that the money trail does not trace back to her, according to her lawyer. The chargesheet, filed by the Delhi government's Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), names three public servants, including Dr Aggarwal, and two private entities.

The CPA, responsible for supplying medicines and medical equipment to Delhi hospitals, did not have access to the tender portal under Dr Aggarwal's control. There is no evidence of overpricing in the procurement process, and no direct contact between Dr Aggarwal and the accused was found. All searches at her residence yielded only documents related to her personal investments. She was arrested and remanded into judicial custody on 29.06.2026.
