Navy warns against fake DSSC recruitment notices

The Nigerian Navy has issued a caution to the public against the proliferation of fraudulent Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) recruitment notices on social media platforms. Captain Abi Folorunsho, the Director of Naval Information, made this warning known in a statement posted on his X account. Folorunsho clarified that the circulating notices, which purportedly advertise openings for DSSC Course 30 and list qualifications in various fields, are not sanctioned by the Nigerian Navy.

He stressed that the Navy's DSSC recruitment exercise has not yet begun. According to Folorunsho, official announcements regarding the DSSC recruitment will be made on the Navy's official website and social media channels. The Navy encourages potential recruits to avoid engaging with anyone promising employment through such deceptive means.

This warning comes in the wake of the Navy's announcement of the commencement of its 2026 Batch 39 recruitment for the Basic Training School. The Batch 39 recruitment is scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, and interested applicants are required to apply through the official recruitment portal. The Navy emphasized that the recruitment process is free and cautioned against making any payments to individuals claiming to assist in the recruitment process.

It is important to note that the DSSC recruitment mentioned in Folorunsho's warning is distinct from the Batch 39 Basic Training School recruitment.
