MoI urges citizens licensed to possess or carry firearms not to lend or hand them over to others

Doha, Qatar - The Ministry of Interior has issued an urgent warning to citizens who are licensed to possess or carry firearms. They are strictly prohibited from lending, handing over, or allowing any other individual to possess their firearms, regardless of the relationship between the firearm owner and the recipient.

The Ministry emphasized that a firearms license is a personal privilege, restricted exclusively to the licensed individual. Sharing or lending a firearm, or permitting an unlicensed person to have possession of it, is a direct breach of Law No. (14) of 1999 on Weapons, Ammunition and Explosives, as amended.

Violation of these regulations will result in criminal liability for both the license holder and the unlicensed person in possession of the firearm. This includes imprisonment, a fine, revocation of the firearms license, and confiscation of the weapon. Additionally, the license holder will be prohibited from obtaining any future firearms license.

The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to taking the necessary legal actions against anyone found to have violated the applicable laws and instructions. The ultimate goal is to maintain the security and stability of society.
