Masked group seen on B.C. First Nation land are ‘cowards,’ officials say

White nationalist demonstrators were spotted on the B.C. First Nation land of Tkʼemlúps te Secwépemc on Sunday morning, according to Tkʼemlúps te Secwépemc Kukpi7 Chief Rosanne Casimir. The individuals were dressed in black clothing and had white material covering their faces, leading to speculation they may be members of the Second Sons of Canada.

Kamloops RCMP Superintendent Jeff Pelley described the group's actions as "cowardly," citing their use of masks and the posting of a sign that read "got bones." The sign's message is seen as intended to intimidate, provoke fear, and cause division. Prime Minister Mark Carney and Liberal MP Wade Grant both condemned the group's actions, deeming them "cowardly" and "abhorrent."

British Columbia NDP Leader David Eby called the group's actions a "disgusting display" and urged all British Columbians and politicians to denounce the incident. The BC Conservative interim leader, Lorne Doerkson, echoed these sentiments, calling the actions "absolutely appalling." Authorities are urging anyone with information, photos, or video footage related to the incident, or knowledge of future gatherings, to contact the Tkʼemlúps Rural RCMP Detachment or the Kamloops RCMP Detachment. They can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers or the Hope for Wellness Help Line.
