Marriage doesn’t make women desperate — Juliana Olayode

Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has spoken out in defense of women who wish to get married, asserting that such a desire does not indicate desperation or a lack of purpose. The social media post, shared on her Instagram, emphasized the importance of personal freedom in choosing one's life path without facing judgment. Olayode maintained that women who are content being single or have no desire for marriage should be respected for their decisions, just as those who seek marriage should be allowed to express their wishes without facing ridicule.

She stressed that not every woman pursuing a husband is desperate, insisting that enthusiasm for marriage does not diminish a woman's ambitions or accomplishments. "Wanting to get married is not a personality disorder," she wrote.

Despite noting that some marriages end in bitterness and that the institution has its challenges, Olayode acknowledged that many view marriage as a beautiful union and a desire worth pursuing. She recounted an incident at a salon where she overheard women criticizing another for openly expressing her desire to marry. Olayode intervened, offering her perspective, and later found amusement in the situation after receiving a "BRIDE" swimsuit gifted to her by a friend in 2024.

The actress emphasized that while some may choose not to marry, they should also respect those who do. She noted that women can aspire to various aspects of life, including faith, purpose, career success, financial stability, friendship, family, and marriage.

Olayode concluded by wishing all those who desire marriage a good partner and a fulfilling union, ending her message with the phrase "Up Love! Up Marriage!"
