Man drowns during outing with 13 friends at forest reserve waterfall

BENTONG: A group of 14 friends embarking on a day trip at the Chamang Forest Reserve waterfall faced a tragic end when one of them, Mohd Aiman Nazmi Mohd Yusuf, 29, from Felda Endau, Johor, drowned in the incident. Pahang Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Mohd Salahuddin Isa reported receiving an emergency call about the unfortunate event at 1.29pm.

By 2.11pm, firemen reached the scene and learned that the man had tragically lost his life while visiting the recreational area with his companions. The group consisted of eight men and five women from Coffee Bean Caltex Sungai Besi. Salahuddin informed that forestry officers had managed to retrieve the victim's body approximately 20 metres away from where he was reported to have disappeared into the waterfall before the firemen arrived.

Health Ministry personnel also arrived at the scene later and confirmed the victim's death. All 13 of the victim's friends were reported to be safe. The victim's body was later handed over to the police.
