The update is not compatible with Intel-based Macs, which will continue to run earlier versions of macOS.

Siri AI, Apple's revamped version of Siri, is powered by Apple Intelligence and can search information across various apps, providing actions based on the retrieved data. However, its availability is limited to Apple-silicon Macs and the A18 Pro MacBook Neo due to language and regional requirements.

macOS 27 compatibility is closely tied to supported Apple-silicon Macs, with the MacBook Neo being the only supported device using an A18 Pro processor. The update halts major macOS support for Intel-based Macs, including M1 and newer Apple-silicon models.

Apple Intelligence features expand beyond Siri, with Image Playground now offering photorealistic image generation and additional editing options. Safari gains the ability to group related tabs and monitor webpage changes, while Shortcuts enable users to create automations from natural language descriptions.

The Passwords app now identifies weak or compromised credentials and assists with automatic updates on supported websites. macOS 27 also provides better support for ultrawide monitors, including higher resolutions and consistent display arrangements when reconnecting monitors.

Other system enhancements include faster network file browsing, quicker AirDrop transfers, improved Safari start-page loading, richer VoiceOver image descriptions, automatic video captions, and additional features in Calendar, Messages, Mail, Maps, and Podcasts.
