President Lee Jae Myung called for a comprehensive investigation into a recent mine explosion that injured three South Korean soldiers near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), vowing to take necessary actions based on the investigation's outcome. During a Cabinet meeting at Cheong Wa Dae, he stated that the military authorities must transparently reveal the truth, collaborating closely with the U.N.

The explosion, which occurred last Monday while the South Korean military and UNC were conducting a joint operation to clear land mines in violation of the armistice, is believed to have been caused by North Korean mines, according to preliminary findings. Lee expressed deep sympathy for the injured soldiers and their families, assuring a full recovery.

He warned against spreading unfounded conspiracy theories about the incident, emphasizing the need for unity between ruling and opposition parties on matters of national security. Additionally, Lee highlighted the importance of developing a self-reliant defense system with advanced weaponry, directing efforts towards constructing nuclear-powered submarines and hypersonic missiles.
