Khmara postpones Germany, Norway visits as Russian attacks intensify

Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara has postponed upcoming visits to Germany and Norway due to the escalating Russian attacks and the deteriorating security situation in Ukraine, according to a Defense Ministry source speaking to NV. The ministry emphasized that these visits, initially scheduled for this week, are being delayed due to the urgent need for enhanced countermeasures.

In response, the ministry stated that discussions with international partners will now proceed through alternative formats, and new aid packages are being prepared to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities. On September 28, Khmara had previously urged European Union countries to provide financial support for the production of interceptor systems designed to counteract Russian jet-powered attack drones.

He also noted that Ukraine already employs interceptor missiles to neutralize such drones, and Ukrainian manufacturers are actively developing their own defense systems. Furthermore, Khmara has called for Ukraine to receive air-to-air missiles, portable air defense systems, ammunition for F-16 fighter jets, and additional Patriot missiles to bolster the country's defenses against Russian ballistic missiles.
