Karachi Football Team Robbed at Gunpoint on Way to Quetta Tournament

A District West football team was targeted at gunpoint as they traveled from Karachi to Quetta for the Chief Minister Gold Cup Football Championship. The 20-member squad lost mobile phones and cash worth hundreds of thousands of rupees when more than a dozen armed men blocked their path near Mastung. The masked attackers held the passengers at gunpoint for around an hour, searching them thoroughly and stealing their valuables.

Some passengers and players were also assaulted during the robbery, but the robbers later allowed the bus to continue its journey. The team informed Rangers personnel about the incident after reaching a checkpoint, but they were told that the area was outside their jurisdiction. Upon reaching Quetta, the organizers provided daily allowance money to the players, and the team submitted a report to the Balochistan sports minister, requesting compensation for the losses.

Sindh Football Association President Azam stated that the security situation in Balochistan discouraged several teams from participating in the tournament and advised football clubs not to travel to Balochistan by bus or train.
