KAA finalises rehabilitation works at Manda Airstrip

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has intensified rehabilitation efforts at Manda Airstrip in preparation for the East African Oil Refinery's groundbreaking ceremony. The facility is undergoing significant upgrades to improve its capacity, safety, and operational efficiency. These improvements include runway enhancements, a new passenger walkway, and an expanded aircraft parking apron.

KAA Managing Director Moses Wekesa expressed satisfaction with the progress, emphasizing the authority's commitment to ensuring the airstrip is ready to handle the anticipated surge in aircraft and passenger movements during the event. The Lamu airstrip is set to become a hub for Heads of State and Government, over 400 VIPs, senior government officials, investors, and other distinguished guests.

These upgrades are expected to bolster operational capacity, enhance the passenger experience, and support safe and efficient aircraft operations. This rehabilitation is part of KAA's broader strategy to strengthen airport infrastructure nationwide, supporting economic growth and connectivity in key destinations across the country.
