On Monday night, "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart called on mainstream media to stop telling American voters that Republicans are starting to turn against President Trump, deeming the messaging "cruel." Stewart, referring to GOP officials, said, "They're in the f—king car." This statement followed a recap of Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent state visit to Washington, D.C., where Stewart mocked Trump's praise for the new granite helipad at the White House.

China, as reported, had sent over 1,000 drone and missile parts to Iran between January and June of this year. Turning his attention to the Republican Party, Stewart reminded viewers that the GOP had previously opposed selling weapons to Communist enemies. He questioned whether anyone on the Republican side had an opinion on the recent summit, noting that several Republicans merely expressed mild disapproval of Xi's visit.

Stewart criticized news outlets for using these instances to suggest there was genuine division within the Republican Party, stating that such narratives were "cruel" and that the majority of Republican politicians would never stand up against Trump. He urged the media to stop perpetuating the idea that cracks exist in the MAGA movement, saying, "They're in the f—king car, and the news media would be doing everyone a favor if you didn't play up every empty gesture of independence from Republican lawmakers."
