Jimmy Kimmel Asks Zohran Mamdani How to Get on Trump’s Good Side: ‘Can You Help Me?’

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Monday to discuss his relationship with President Trump. Kimmel observed that Mamdani seemed to have a "pretty friendly relationship" with the president and asked the mayor if he and Trump "hit it off immediately" and if Mamdani could provide advice on how to get on Trump's good side.

Mamdani joked, "Sorry, brother." He explained that while they have many disagreements, they both share a love for New York City, which has been the focus of their discussions since their first meeting in November of last year. More recently, their conversations have centered around an affordable housing development project in Queens called Sunnyside Yard.

Kimmel playfully inquired about texting Trump regarding the project, wondering if Trump might think Mamdani was texting about eggs. Mamdani responded that he was pretty sure Trump didn't have that misunderstanding. The late night host then asked various questions about their text communications, such as whether Trump responds immediately or waits, and if the texts are written in all caps or as complete sentences.

Mamdani replied that their texts are "pretty standard." Kimmel expressed amazement at Mamdani's ability to communicate effectively with Trump and jokingly suggested that he move to Washington to hang out at the Oval Office. Mamdani quickly shut down the idea, emphasizing his love for housing over personal appearances.
