Irrigation Minister arrives in Rome for Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum

Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam journeyed to Rome on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, to partake in the 2026 Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum, which spans from September 29 to October 2. The forum assembles ministers, senior officials, experts, and representatives from international and regional organizations to tackle water-related matters.

Sewilam is slated to engage in multiple high-level events and sessions, comprising the opening session and a high-level session dubbed “From the Ministerial Meeting on Water to the UN Water Conference.” He will also attend a session on “Management of Non-Conventional Water Resources” and specialized discussions on coastal groundwater, the future of water management, and the role of younger generations in tackling water issues.

Additionally, Sewilam will engage in numerous bilateral meetings during the forum with senior officials and influential figures in attendance, aiming to enhance cooperation and knowledge-sharing in water resources management. Egypt's attendance at the Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum underscores its commitment to bolstering regional and global collaboration on water resources, exchanging insights on shared water challenges, and supporting global initiatives towards water security and sustainable development.

This participation aligns with Egypt's contributions to the ongoing preparations for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, as per the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
