Illegal workers training runaway expats to set up online stores busted in Riyadh

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi engaged in discussions with Saudi Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs, Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer, to boost collaboration in training and the sharing of mining expertise. This conversation took place during the Egypt Mining Forum 2026 held in the New Capital.

Badawi emphasized that Egypt and Saudi Arabia enjoy a strong partnership and have a long history of cooperation in various sectors. He underlined the significance of deepening cooperation in mining due to their common geological features on the Arabian-Nubian Shield and the potential benefits of exchanging knowledge, attracting investments, and enhancing mineral resource development.

Badawi praised Saudi Arabia's expertise in developing its mining industry and stressed the advantage of leveraging the successful experiences of both nations to strengthen their mining sector and improve workforce skills. In response, Al-Mudaifer acknowledged Egypt's efforts over the past two years to develop its mining sector. He highlighted efforts to improve the sector's regulatory framework, transform the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority into an economic authority, and enhance its capacity to manage and exploit mineral resources.

Al-Mudaifer also lauded Egypt's adoption of airborne mineral surveys, considering them crucial for providing precise and comprehensive data on geological and mining potential, thereby supporting exploration activities and boosting the sector's appeal to mining investments.
