IHS Nigeria links infrastructure to digital economy growth

IHS Nigeria, a key player in Nigeria's telecommunications sector, has emphasized the vital role of digital infrastructure in the nation's transformation from mobile telephony to a thriving digital economy. During the 12th edition of the eWorld Forum in Lagos, the company reflected on its contributions to Nigeria's telecommunications evolution over the past 25 years.

IHS Nigeria, operating as part of IHS Towers, is recognized as one of the world's largest independent tower owners, operators, and developers of shared communications infrastructure. The company boasts an extensive footprint, with approximately 16,000 towers and over 15,000 kilometers of fiber deployed across Nigeria. These infrastructure investments have bolstered voice and data services, while shared infrastructure and connectivity solutions have empowered mobile network operators and other service providers to expand their networks.

The forum, themed "The GSM Digital Milestones: 25 Years On," celebrated the 25th anniversary of Nigeria's GSM revolution and explored the country's telecommunications ecosystem's evolution from the early days of mobile telephony to today's digital age. IHS Nigeria's director of corporate communications, Sylva Ifedigbo, highlighted the company's close connection to Nigeria's telecommunications journey, stating that IHS Nigeria is synonymous with the country's GSM story and serves as the nation's backbone of digital possibilities.
