How LIVEX sits at centre of Abu Dhabi’s mission to become most liveable city

Abu Dhabi is prioritizing "liveability" in its urban planning, aiming to become the world's most liveable and loveable destination. The city is hosting LIVEX 2026, an event that will bring together 20,000 delegates and 1,500 investors from over 50 countries. LIVEX is centered around district-level priorities and resident insights, using data and cross-government coordination to turn these insights into better living conditions.

The chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, explains that liveability means easy movement around neighborhoods, safe play areas for children, and easy access to green spaces, education, healthcare, and services. Al Shorafa emphasizes that quality of life must keep pace with growth, requiring planning ahead for housing, schools, healthcare, mobility, utilities, and public spaces.

Connectivity is a key focus, with Etihad Rail's passenger network expanding this September to Dubai and Al Dhaid. Abu Dhabi's Liveability Strategy has been allocated Dh42 billion in investment, but Al Shorafa stresses that planning, infrastructure, mobility, municipal services, and real estate development must also work together as parts of a connected urban system.
