Hong Kong man charged with voyeurism over hiding pinhole cameras in gym

A 34-year-old Hong Kong man, Fung Kwok-wang, has been charged with voyeurism after installing pinhole cameras in a gym changing room, according to Shatin Magistrates’ Courts. The 24/7 Fitness gym in Sha Tin discovered the cameras, which were taped to a removable ceiling panel, after staff found them on September 25. Fung was arrested on Sunday following the viral video of the hidden camera.

The court document states that he is accused of installing or operating the camera between September 24 and 25 to commit voyeurism, as per the city’s Crimes Ordinance. Three pinhole cameras and memory cards were seized from the gym, with police unable to disclose the number of videos stored. Hard drives and other devices were also confiscated from Fung’s residence.

The gym has suspended Fung’s membership and intensified security checks at all branches. Police suspect Fung purchased the cameras from a mainland Chinese e-commerce platform, limiting enforcement actions.
