‘Hello from the future’: Netizens revisit Bhumjaithai disaster fund policy amid floods

Bangkok, 29 September 2026 — Netizens have revisited a Bhumjaithai Party election campaign policy promising a THB 100,000 disaster payment per household in light of widespread flooding in the city and other parts of Thailand.

The policy, outlined in a Facebook post by the Bhumjaithai Party on 1 January 2026, was part of their "Say it, do it Plus+" campaign and emphasized the slogan "Ready Before Disaster, Standing with Thailand in Every Situation." The party proposed an immediate THB 100,000 payment to households in the event of a disaster, with funding provided by the government.

According to the proposal, an AI system would detect relevant information and trigger the funds. The party also called for an upgraded disaster-warning system using satellites and AI, with integrated information from various government agencies for earlier warnings and better disaster planning. Detailed disaster-management maps were to be prepared at the subdistrict level, alongside channels for accurate information dissemination to residents during emergencies.

The comments on the social media post read: "How far have you gone with the policy? Bhumjaithai Party." One user jokingly captioned their comment "Hello from the future" as they revisited the earlier campaign promise. The renewed online discussion highlighted the party’s election campaign proposal but did not confirm whether the Disaster Fund or its THB 100,000 payment mechanism had been implemented.
