Heavy rain, gusty winds expected across peninsula and Sarawak until 7pm, warns MetMalaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 - The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several regions across Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak until 7pm today. The warning encompasses Penang, Perak, Melaka, Kedah, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Sarawak. In these areas, residents can expect thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds to impact the region.

MetMalaysia defines a thunderstorm warning when there is an imminent threat of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity surpassing 20mm per hour or when such storms are expected to persist for over an hour. This type of alert remains in effect for a maximum of six hours from the time of issuance.
