Ghana have ‘best goalkeeping unit in Africa’, says goalkeepers’ trainer Daniel Gaspar

Ghana's goalkeeping coach, Daniel Gaspar, has declared that his country boasts the strongest group of goalkeepers in Africa as they gear up for a pivotal 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against The Gambia. The Black Stars will host The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, with the match starting at 16:00 GMT. Ghana, who recently lost their opening Group C fixture to Côte d'Ivoire, now find themselves at the bottom of the group.

Speaking to media during Saturday's training session, Gaspar commended the quality of the Black Stars' goalkeeping trio, consisting of Lawrence Ati Zigi, Benjamin Asare, and Joseph Anang. He expressed confidence in their abilities, stating, "Fortunate to be back, very grateful to be here. We have three outstanding goalkeepers." Gaspar believes in the trio's potential and is certain that they share his conviction.

Ati Zigi, with his international experience, Benjamin Asare, who has been making waves with the national team, and Joseph Anang, who will complete the goalkeeping group, are set to play a crucial role in Ghana's bid to secure a positive result and advance in the qualification campaign for the 2027 AFCON.
