Former UP IAS Officer Divya Mittal Enters Politics Independently, Says 'Will Not Join Any Party' | VIDEO

Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh-cadre IAS officer Divya Mittal declared her entry into politics on September 29, stating she will operate independently and not join any existing political party. Through a video message on X, Mittal outlined her plans to work directly with citizens and create a platform based on their concerns. Her decision follows weeks of speculation about her next move after resigning from the IAS after 13 years of service.

Mittal ruled out joining any political party and intends to bring about a shift in politics through "intent, justice, concern and long-term thinking". She believes it would be challenging to question the system once part of it. The former officer chose Uttar Pradesh as the starting point for her political journey, describing it as her "karmabhoomi".

Mittal highlighted issues such as rural infrastructure, school problems, examination leaks, and unemployment affecting people despite government funds. She plans to build a citizens' platform around these issues and appeals to citizens from various sectors to join her initiative, emphasizing a focus on accountability and public concerns rather than party affiliation, money, muscle power, or caste and religious calculations.

Mittal resigned from her role as Special Secretary in the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Department on August 30 after serving for about 13 years.
