Former Sa'iqa official: Hafez Al-Assad used group to divide Palestinians in Lebanon

Bilal Hassan, a former military official of Sa iqa in Lebanon, disclosed that the group was utilized by former Syrian President Hafez Al-Assad as a means to divide and weaken Palestinian unity in the region. According to an article in Al Arabiya, Hassan stated that Sa iqa contributed to Palestinian divisions, driving them towards internal strife.

Hassan further revealed his own participation in the abduction of the late Lebanese President Bashir Gemayel, describing the operation as terrifying, with Gemayel repeatedly exclaiming, "Please, father." As recounted by Al Arabiya, Hassan claimed that he was tasked with creating false reports implicating Palestinians in attacks on Christian sites in Lebanon, even when such incidents were never substantiated, serving as justification for Syria's intervention in Lebanon.

The ex-military official also criticized Hafez Al-Assad, labeling him as "a rabbit in the Golan and a lion in Lebanon," and accused him of orchestrating the deaths of Lebanese, Palestinians, and Syrians under the guise of safeguarding lives.
