Former ‘American Idol’ Contestant Caleb Flynn Found Guilty of Wife’s Murder

Former "American Idol" contestant Caleb Flynn was found guilty of murdering his wife Ashley on Tuesday, according to a jury verdict. Flynn was charged with murder and tampering with evidence, and the guilty verdict came seven months after his arrest in connection to the crime. Assistant prosecuting attorney Matthew C. Joseph argued that Flynn's electronic devices showed movement and activity in the hours leading up to Ashley's murder, contradicting his claim of being asleep.

Joseph also discussed Flynn's motive, noting that being the victim allowed him to commit the murder without appearing to be a husband who left his wife for another. Ashley's body was discovered shot to death on February 16 at 2:30 a.m. following a burglary report at their Ohio home. Flynn, who competed on Season 12 of "American Idol" in 2013, had expressed his love for his wife during his time on the show.
