Fahmi: Only register for medicine delivery service through MoH to avoid scams on Facebook, TikTok

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 29 — Registration for Malaysia's new medicine delivery service (UMP) should be completed exclusively through the Ministry of Health, warned Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil today. The minister cautioned against potential scams on social media platforms such as TikTok and Facebook, stating that registration only takes place at health clinics or Ministry of Health facilities.

The UMP programme, a joint initiative by the Communications and Health Ministries, will commence on October 1. Eligible patients will receive their follow-up medications delivered free of charge to their homes for a year, with the shipping costs fully subsidized. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will oversee the program's execution, while the Ministry of Health will manage patient eligibility and medication supply. Pos Malaysia Berhad will handle the physical delivery of medications.

Fahmi emphasized that the program is free and does not require any payment. The strategic partnership aims to encourage more patients to utilize digital healthcare services and improve access to follow-up medications without the need for physical visits to health facilities. The program is expected to benefit approximately 80,000 patients each month, with an estimated total shipping subsidy of RM5 million.
