The Spanish government is preparing to approve a housing decree on Tuesday, with the measure's scope still dependent on ongoing negotiations. Both the PSOE and other leftist parties are pushing for the law not to be just a "stopgap" solution, while the far-right party Junts threatens to withdraw from the agreement by accusing the executive of straying from the pact reached in recent days.

Major obstacles to the law, which must be validated by Congress within a month, include the regulation of seasonal rentals and habitations, as well as automatic renewal of contracts, though these were previously deemed unfeasible. The government acknowledges the decree may not fully satisfy everyone, but the priority is to get it validated within a few weeks.

Meanwhile, hundreds of protesters camped out in the Puerta del Sol on Tuesday morning, marking their third night of vigilance to press the government for action on the housing crisis.
